UHC, short for Ultra Hardcore, is a competitive survival-PvP format. Natural health regeneration is turned off, so the only ways to heal are golden apples, golden heads and potions. Every game starts on a fresh world: you gather resources, craft gear and then fight as the world border shrinks toward the centre.

Many UHC games are scheduled events rather than always-on, so check the server's match calendar or Discord. Some servers run a faster variant with smaller maps around the clock. Latency and anti-cheat quality matter in competitive play, so prefer servers close to your region. Speed UHC and meetup modes suit shorter sessions.

That is the core rule of Ultra Hardcore: natural regeneration from a full hunger bar is disabled. You can only heal with golden apples, golden heads and potions, which makes every hit count.
A standard UHC match usually lasts about 60 to 90 minutes including the grace period and meetup. Speed UHC and meetup modes are much shorter.
