Guide for server owners
How to Get Your Server Listed and Ranked
Updated
Listing a Minecraft server on MinecraftServers.me is free. This guide explains what you need before you submit, how moderation works, and how the ranking decides where your server appears. A complete, honest listing is the best long-term marketing you can do: it is what players see before they ever join.
Before you submit
- A reachable server. Once submitted, we check the address every few minutes. A server that never answers will not be approved.
- The right edition. Choose Java, Bedrock or crossplay. Crossplay servers (for example Java servers running Geyser) enter a Java address and a Bedrock address and port, and appear on both edition pages.
- A short summary. One or two sentences shown on every list card. Say what makes your server different, not that it is "the best".
- A full description. Markdown is supported: headings, lists and links. Explain the gamemodes, rules, what the store sells and how to get help. Raw HTML and images in the description are not displayed.
- Accurate tags. Pick the gamemodes and versions you actually support. Misleading tags are one of the most common reasons for rejection.
Banner and icon
Listings with artwork get noticeably more clicks, and a banner or icon is also required for your server page to be included in search engines.
- Banner: 468 x 60 pixels, the classic server-list size. PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP are accepted, including animated GIFs. We convert it to WebP and show it on your card and server page. Keep text large enough to read on a phone, where the banner is scaled down.
- Icon: a square image, ideally 64 x 64 or larger. If you do not upload one, we use the server icon your server sends in its status response (
server-icon.pngon Java).
Do not use artwork you do not have rights to, and avoid flashing animations; moderators will ask you to replace them.
Submitting
- Create an account or sign in.
- Open the dashboard and choose Add server.
- Fill in the address, edition, tags, versions, country, summary and description.
- Upload your banner and icon from the server's media page.
- Submit. Your listing is now pending review.
Moderation
A moderator reviews every new server before it goes public, and reviews again when you make significant changes. We check that the server is reachable, that the listing matches what players will find when they join, and that it follows the rules. Listings are rejected or removed for:
- duplicate listings of the same server,
- misleading tags, versions, player counts or descriptions,
- scams, phishing, account selling or anything illegal,
- hateful or sexual content, and
- servers that have been offline for a long time.
If your server is rejected, the dashboard shows the reason; fix it and resubmit. Players can report listings, and moderators follow up on every report.
How the ranking works
Featured servers appear first in every list and hold the top ranks. After them, the main list and every gamemode, version, edition and country page are ordered by votes this month. Ties are broken by all-time votes, then by players online.
- Any player can vote for a server once every 24 hours with their Minecraft username. Votes are protected by a captcha and per-IP limits, so automated voting does not work and can get a listing removed.
- Monthly votes reset on the 1st of every month at 00:00 UTC. All-time votes are kept and shown on your server page.
- Featured spots are labelled. A featured server is pinned to the top of every list with a "Featured" label while the placement runs; every other position comes from votes. Besides paid placements, five servers are featured for free every day (00:00 UTC). To be in that draw, your server needs at least 50 votes a month, must be online, and needs an uploaded icon and banner; servers that waited longest go first. Your dashboard shows how close you are.
- Player counts, online status and uptime come from our own checks, not from what you enter, so they are comparable across servers.
Getting votes
The servers at the top of the list reward their communities for voting. Set up Votifier so votes reach your server instantly, then give voters something worthwhile: crate keys, in-game money or a cosmetic. Remind players with a /vote command that links to your vote page, and mention it in your Discord. Offering rewards for votes is fine; buying votes or forcing players to vote is not.
Your dashboard shows views, IP copies and votes per day, so you can see which changes bring in new players. Keep your description and tags current, and your listing will keep working for you month after month.
